The holy month of Ramadan is here! So, on 26-27 May, 2-3 June and 9-10 June 2018 throughout the whole month of Ramadan, you will see residents of Kuala Lumpur and some tourists breaking their fast on the busiest road in the city with the commanding backdrop of historic monuments, Sultan Abdul Samad Building and Dataran Merdeka. The breaking fast event is called IFTAR (Berbuka Puasa)@Kuala Lumpur.
Held for the fourth consecutive year, IFTAR (Berbuka Puasa)@Kuala Lumpur has also attracted locals and foreign tourists of various cultures to participate in this unique experience. Sitting side by side on a woven mat, everyone will be served with popular Ramadan dishes such as bubur lambuk (spiced rice porridge), dates and cakes. All of them will wait for the call to prayer before eating their dishes.
There will be plenty of religious activities held before and after the Iftar that will take us on a journey of spirituality. Talks about Ramadhan would be given by religious spokesperson such as Datuk Dr. Hj. Zulkifli bin Mohamad Al-Bakri (mufti Federal Territory) on the 26 May and by Datuk Ustaz Kazim Elias on the 9 June. A Ramadan concert would also be held by Raihan (27 May), UNIC band (3 June) and Hijjaz group (10 June).
The Mobile Community Transformation Centre would also be available during the three weekends to serve the public. Participating agencies include the Road Transport Department (JPJ) for license renewals or payment of fines, the Election Commission (SPR) for registration of Malaysian voters, Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) for opening of bank accounts and more. Don’t miss this golden opportunity to experience the wonderful month of Ramadhan.
